Why Do Solar Panels Need to Have a Border?

If you look carefully at solar panels, you will notice that there is a gap between the solar cells inside the panel. This gap and the distance left on the side are not the same. You may be puzzled, so let's answer these questions one by one.

The reason why solar cells leave a gap

Solar cells inside solar panels have gaps to meet the voltage requirements of the panel. If you need an 18V solar panel, then there will be 36 small solar cells. The voltage of one solar cell is 0.5V (common single/multi-crystalline, regardless of the size of the solar cell, as long as it is cut into small pieces, each piece is 0.5V). The gap is left because the solar cells need to be welded with copper strips, and the most important thing is to avoid short circuits, and secondly, for aesthetics.

However, the gap inside is determined by the power of thesolar panel. The greater the power, the larger the gap between the solar cells and the smaller the power. The gap left on the side is also determined by the gap, as well as the surface material of the solar panel. If the surface is made of glass, the gap will be larger and it is easier to shift during lamination, and the PET/ETFE gap will be smaller. It also depends on whether the panel needs a frame. The gap left without a frame will be smaller than that with an aluminum alloy frame, and the gap with a plastic frame will be larger.

To extend the point, when installing solar panels on roofs in many rural areas, is there a gap between thesolar panels and the roof? And how big should it be?

The solar panels should not be flush with the roof. This is because in hot weather, the heat generated will leak into the top attic and cause the attic to overheat. Therefore, most manufacturers recommend a four-inch gap between the solar panel and the roof. The gap between the last row of solar panels and the edge of the roof should be at least 12 inches or one foot. This is to ensure that the solar panels can be accommodated when they expand and contract during the day. There should be a space of four to seven inches between two solar panels. Similarly, this is to accommodate the expansion and contraction of the solar panels during the day. The gap between solar panel rows should be five to six inches, but it is also recommended to leave one to three feet of space between every second or third row. This is because there needs to be enough space for maintenance personnel to enter the roof for repairs when necessary. Of course, you can adjust it reasonably based on the actual power of the solar panel.

The development prospects of solar panels

Today, after ten years, solar panels are still relatively popular and can still be seen on some streets, solar street lights, solar monitoring, solar traffic warning lights, solar road stud lights, etc. An important part of these products is solar panels. Secondly, it is even used in some families (solar garden lights, ground plug lights, etc.), agriculture (solar pest control lights, etc.) and other places (solar water level monitors, solar pumps, solar forestry monitoring, etc.), which shows that the use of solar panels is becoming more and more widespread, penetrating into every aspect of people's lives and becoming an important part of life, which is sufficient to show that the market for solar panels More and more large.
